Santa Claus is coming to town and we're quite frankly loving all the festive treats that are flying into our inboxes. From delicious tipples and tasty new menus, it's the season to be gluttonous. One of our favourites we've seen recently however is the wonderfully festive Christmas Afternoon Tea by Lily Vanilli, serving now until 31st December.
The beautifully renovated Theatre Royal Drury Lane plays host to this affair, in The Lane’s Grand Saloon, tand the Christmas themed Afternoon Tea menu includes a generous array of savoury bites and sweet cakes including a cranberry enriched Sausage Roll and a cranberry filled mince pie. A delicious Gingerbread Spiced Sticky Toffee Pudding is accompanied with Custard and topped with Salted Caramel Popcorn. In addition, the chocolate cake is decorated with piped wreaths and strings of Christmas lights, topped with a gingerbread star. Warm scones will be brought to the table with salted whipped butter, cream and homemade jams.
Afternoon Tea is served on bespoke fine bone china designed by Kit and Willow Kemp. Named The Mythical Characters, the collection celebrates the rich history of the theatre, with a bespoke tea service fit for royalty. Exclusively created for The Lane, The Mythical Characters that adorn the china and linen table napkins were taken from illustrations of costume designs created for ballets, pantomimes, comic operas and Edwardian musical comedies. For anyone who would like to take a piece of the magic home with them, each item is available to purchase from The Lane’s shop. We certainly wouldn't mind finding one or two pieces under our tree on Christmas morning!
