A roti pop up honouring the most delicious flaky bread varieties across the Caribbean to celebrate the release of East Winds is coming to Bodega Rita’s.
Riaz Phillips, the acclaimed author and culinary explorer released East Winds: Recipes, History and Tales from the Hidden Caribbean this week and to celebrate has teamed up to takeover Bodega Rita’s, the cult sandwich shop from Missy Flynn and Gabriel Pryce, as its Caribbean alter-ego – Bodega Roti’s for 2 weeks this Black History Month.
Enjoy recipes from the book like Dal Puri Roti: A traditional Caribbean flatbread and Buss-up Shot Roti: A must-try Trinidadian version known for its flaky layers paired with a rich and savoury Curry Goat, spiced Curry Chicken, sweet Curry Shrimp, or Channa aloo, the famous veggie dish of chickpeas and potatoes. Mop up Mixed veg featuring spinach Bhaji, Bodhi (string beans), and Pumpkin Talkari.
Wash it down with homemade lime and ginger juice or Hibiscus drink – the classic Caribbean quencher and buy a signed copy of the book whist you’re there too.
