Sorry, what was that?
You heard correctly. Already know for its sellout wine festivals, Eataly has announced its very first Wine and Truffle Festival, running exclusively from Thursday 2nd to Saturday 4th November.
In Italy, truffles are known as ‘tartufo’, and are widely used in Italian cooking for their intense aroma and flavour profile, elevating any pasta or main dish. Truffles are proving hugely popular, becoming a gastronomic focus across Europe, particularly throughout the ingredient’s peak season which falls during the autumn and winter months. Europe has the oldest tradition of truffle consumption dating back to the 14th century, now frequently being used in an array of pesto sauces or dips, shaved onto pizzas, pastas or even on popcorn.
To celebrate the complexity of truffle and its complimentary wine pairings, the 3-day festival at Eataly will represent the best of Italy’s food and wine culture.
Showcasing Eataly’s renowned wine selection - the largest collection of Italian wines in Europe outside of Italy, Eataly is inviting guests to sample more the 50 quality Italian wines from 10 different producers. Suppliers will be travelling directly from Italian regions including Tuscany, just for the festival.
Attendees will have the chance to sample a range of wines, with premium Italian wines including Montepulciano d' Abruzzo and Barolo, from renowned producers like Frescobaldi, Ca' del Bosco and Borgogno.
To satisfy your appetite, Eataly will also be offering a selection of truffle-inspired food options throughout the store for those attending (with vegetarian options also available). Not to mention, guests will be able to smell and sample fresh truffle throughout the event, whilst learning about the secrets behind the well-loved ingredient from Savini truffle experts and producers.
Some of the dishes on offer include:
Panino porchetta e tartufo: Porchetta bun with truffle cheese cream
