Summer's coming and where better to spend a sunny day that a rooftop pool? That might be a rarity in London, but thanks to art'otel Battersea it can be your reality. We checked in for a night at south London hottest hideaway...
Partner property to art'otel Hoxton, the Battersea hotel was the first London property to open from the brand in 2022. In the very heart of the newly revived Battersea neighbourhood and overlooking Battersea Power Station, the hotel features one-of-a-kind interiors carefully curated by resident artist, Jaime Hayon. It's a really different vibe to Hoxton, reflecting the personality of the local area with a softer colour palette and mid-century modern meets art deco interiors.
Rooms are full of colour and playfulness, with a bold, colourful palette, set against a stunning backdrop of unique art installations. Our suite was flooded with daylight from floor-to-ceiling windows. A record player and stack of vinyls ensure a great soundtrack to your stay, the huge bathtub will lure you in for a soak with Kevin Murphy toiletries, there's a ghd AirWrap in the cupboard for your hair, while the well-stocked bar trolley ensures you have everything needed for a late night party (if your wallet can stretch to the jaw-dropping price list...).
But it's outside the rooms that the hotel comes alive. Head up to the rooftop for an open air bar full of sumemr vibes - check out the schedule online for DJ nights coming up this summer while round the corner lies that rooftop pool. With a view of the iconic Power Station chimneys, it's the hottest spot in town. You could easily spend all day up there alternating between pool and hot tub, snooping on the luxury apartments opposite...
One floor below lies JOIA, the hotel's signature restaurant serving up the best of Portuguese and Iberian cuisine with a side of breathtaking skyline. The food is, quite simply, delicious; fill up on small plates like seabass ceviche, octopus salad, grilled leeks with romesco sauce and melt-in-the-mouth Iberico ham croqeutas. With a daxxling cocktail list to match it's a great spot to while away an evening watching the sunset. Meanwhile TOZI on the ground floor serves up some rather excellent pizza and cicchetti, not to mention an a la carte breakfast with dishes like salf beef hash and heritage tomatoes and ricotta on sourdough.
Of course the lure of art'otel is the rooftop pool, but the rooms and the food speak for themselves.
Rooms from £224 per night, bed and breakfast.
