Meatopia On-Fire London is the legendary festival for fire-cooking lovers. The huge, four day event brings together the very best chef talent from across the UK, Europe and wider world. Each and every dish is bespoke to Meatopia; a chance to taste some truly remarkable food for the first and last time. Menus are revealed at the festival, never before.
This is a feast for the senses with the promise of delicious fire-cooked food, ice-cold drinks and eclectic entertainment. Meatopia wholeheartedly commits to continuing Founder, Josh Ozersky’s pledge to showcase sustainability, quality and flavour. All meat and fish are raised naturally and live cruelty-free lives.
Meatopia recently announced an expansion to Glasgow with an exciting second festival in the UK for the first time this year. London's Tobacco Dock remains Meatopia’s iconic London home and to whet your appetite, here’s a selection of chefs confirmed. The full line up for this year’s festival will be revealed closer to the event.
Starting with the British chefs, Elliot Hashtroudi's French regional restaurant Camille, opened to much acclaim last year. Working with British regenerative farmers, his zero waste approach to French cuisine is steeped in rich tradition and technique. The produce-led restaurant focuses on offal… perhaps a hint at Elliot’s Meatopia dish.
Meatopia is absolutely thrilled to welcome back an icon of British fire-cooking, Richard Turner. Richard is a Meatopia founder and known for his meat expertises at arguably London’s best butcher, Turner and George. A trained chef under the likes of Pierre Koffman and the Roux brothers, he’s now turned his hand to directing the smokehouse restaurant group, Bodean’s. Expect a top quality meat feast from Richard at Meatopia.
Meatopia alumni, Ruben Dawnay continues to blossom with a residency at Darby’s Next Door. His smoking and fire-cooking skills are quite exceptional for such a young chef. A big smile and a phenomenal plate of food awaits you at Meatopia.
A London based chef who made a big impact last year with her cookbook, Kin, returns to Meatopia. Marie Mitchell’s cooking is a celebration of Caribbean culture and cuisine. She layers spices to create delicate, moreish flavours. Her sell out dish of Jerk pork last year was a firm favorite with the audience, so be sure to get in line for Marie’s creation this year. This year Marie is cooking alongside Tintin Jonsson, chef of Swedish-Filipino roaming kitchen, Swilipino.
Basque for ‘George’, Gorka is the project from George Husband (Brat, Bistro Union, Trinity) and George Brown (Camberwell Arms, Café Cecilia, Waterman Arms). Their food is an infectious mash up of classical French, regional Italian and Basque open fire dishes and the results are never anything less than astonishing. Think Mackerel, grapes, shiso, pork fat or Secreto Iberico, koji, peanut mustard, grilled gem & betel leaf. Not to be missed.
Another Meatopia alumni and loved by the masses is Stewart Down of Black Bear Burger. Quite simply, they don’t mess around with gimmicks. Fastidious care is taken over the quality of the meat and freshly made accompaniments. It’s easy to see why they won ‘burger of the year’ at this year’s National Burger Awards.
And now for a stellar line up of international chefs. All the way from Lawrenceville, Georgia Rasheed Philips, affectionately known as The Gentleman SmokerTM, brings the rich flavours and traditions of his Jamaican heritage to the world of barbecue. As a prominent figure in the American barbecue community, Rasheed has appeared on Netflix’s The American Barbeque Showdown. Rasheed's dishes are characterised by his distinctive use of spices, marinades, and open-fire grilling, imparting a unique depth of flavor and a touch of his homeland in every bite.
Isabel Coss heads up contemporary Mexican restaurant Pascual, and Lutèce French neobistro, both in Washington DC. Born and raised in Mexico City, her cooking reflects the bold flavours she grew up with. Isabel has been cooking professionally since the age of 17 with many impressive accolades to her name including Best New Chef from American magazine, Food & Wine.
Valerie Chang opened her first restaurant, the Japanese-Peruvian Itamae with her father and brother. She quickly garnered praise as one of Miami’s rising young stars. In 2023 Valerie opened Maty’s, a homage to the Peruvian food she ate growing up. Soon after, Maty’s earned a place on The New York Times Restaurant List.
