TUCKING IN AT TRIBE CANARY WHARF

Love London

Canary Wharf has its fair share of hotels - admitted some nicer than others - but we’ve discovered a new favourite that combines functional practicality with a dose of elegance and genuinely great food.

Welcome to TRIBE Wood Wharf; just minutes from the tube, it’s perfectly situated not just for the bustle of Canary Wharf but as a handy alternative to Greenwich for events at the O2. Downstairs, guests are welcomed into the bright lobby with its blend of industrial design and comfy detail, in a chic colour palette of muted tones. It’s a great spot for a meeting or catch up thanks to its coffee and snack bar, spacious, bright and welcoming.

Upstairs, rooms boast floor to ceiling windows with striking views - we loved peeking into the new builds opposite after dark and waking up to a sunrise through the high rises. They may be somewhat cosy in size, but they’re comfortable and elegant with thoughtful touches; padded velvet headboards, chic brass lighting fixtures, Roberts digital radios and cute touches like a welcome box of brownies next to the coffee machine. Rainfall showers (always nice when a hotel shower is ten times better than the one at home…) and sumptuous Kevin Murphy toiletries await in the bathroom. With room rates from £145 they are rather good value, plus members of Accor’s points programme ALL (which is free to sign up for) can also access special members’ rates.

On the ground floor you’ll find TRIBE’s bar and restaurant, Feels Like June, bringing a dose of California cool to Canary Wharf, where Europe meets West Coast flavours in its all-day dining menu, from breakfast burritos to delicious small plates. We tucked into a fantastic truffle ricotta with heirloom beets, artichokes and garden radish, an incredible smoked fish roe dip, crisp pan-fried seabass and a fantastic steak with garlic butter and a beautifully-dressed salad on the side. Sat outside on one of the last warm sunny evenings of the summer, tunes echoing across the terrace with a chilled glass of wine, it was a great spot to while away an evening. We loved the vibe of the restaurant and bar, with its art deco styling and fantastic wall of art prints; it’s certainly a spot we’ll come back to, whether or not we’re staying the night.

Whether visiting for work or play, TRIBE is a spot with real personality in what can be a pretty monotonous area. We love it.
