The annual "London's Place in the UK Economy" report - published by the City of London Corporation and produced by The London School of Economics shows that Londoners paid 18% of the total UK taxes during 2006-2007 - paying almost £15bn more in taxes than it received in public spending.
On the other hand, public spend per person was higher for London than for any region except Northern Ireland.
So I guess that all the problems in the City will have a knock on effect on the UK's overall public purse...where will they get it all from in the future?
London supports the UK?
