Vote for your favourite London Park

London Event Reviews by May B

Having saved a significant sum by cancelling some of the previous Mayor’s self-promotion, Boris has set aside £6m to improve 10 of London’s parks. And Londoner’s get to vote for their favourite of the 47 parks nominated throughout North West, North, North East, South East or South West. It’s just like a green version of X Factor.

From our part of West London, we voted for Crane Park – which has a fantastic river (with a dipping platform, stepping stones, waterfalls where you can attempt to build dams and get very muddy and wading areas), numerous islands and wildlife areas, a field for playing football or picnics and lots of trees and bushes to provide some relief from London life. There is also a beautiful shot tower in the middle of the park which looks like a land locked lighthouse.

Search for “Help a London Park” or visit www.london.gov.uk/parksvote/about.jsp. You have until the end of January to register your vote.
