Secret Picnic in the Park for London Workers

Live jazz bands, free lunches and chill out zone to get capital to love its lunch hour.

A free weekday lunchtime Picnic in the Park will be held in early July at a secret location in central London.

As well as free picnic lunches for the first 2,000 people, a jazz band and giant garden games, there will be a ‘sunshine zone’ for sun worshippers and a ‘chill-out zone’ where you can kick back on a hay bale and flick through a selection of magazines.

The hosts of the event, Nature Valley Snack Bars, want to encourage office workers in the capital to get outdoors this summer and make the most of the green areas around them on their lunch breaks.

Presenter, writer, adventurer and London resident himself; Ben Fogle will also be at the event, which is part of a wider campaign to help people discover London’s Secret Spots in which to relax.

Ben says of the initiative: ‘I love London’s hidden parks, squares and gardens. This is one of the world’s greenest cities, mainly on account of its dozens of hidden squares – many of which are open to the public.’
