London is Funny's week in gigs (w/c May 24)

London's Comedy Blog

Hi comedy fans!

Here are London is Funny's top comedy gigs of the week, should you be thinking about getting some laughs in at all ...

1) Critics darlings Pajama Men make a welcome return to Soho Theatre, where they had a twice extended run during the winter. If you're one of the few who hasn't seen the American duo take you through their cast of bizarre characters, then amend that! Immediately! (Tue-Fri)

2) Wonderful musical comic James Sherwood's new club is called At the Piano, in which he welcomes non-musical comedians and demands that they end their non-musical comedy set with a song! The swine. It's highly, highly entertaining and tonight's guests are Tom Craine, Alex Zane and music/comedy legend Ronnie Golden. The venue is Cafe Koha in Covent Garden. (Tuesday)

3) The always excellent 99 Club have a good one at Storm on Leicester Square, with the ridiculously friendly Patrick Monahan hosting, plus old-hand Nick Revell, raving storyteller Paul Foot and good Jewish boy Josh Howie. Definitely worth a look. (Friday)

4) The Boat Show at the Tattershall Castle (an actual boat on the actual ruddy Thames) includes Micky Flanagan, Carl Donnelly and hilarious hospital DJ character Ivan Brackenbury (Saturday)

5) The Laughing Horse New Act of the Year reaches its final in Brixton – see tomorrow's stars today, and all that. The venue is the always lively Dogstar in Brixton (Sunday)

As ever, these listings and plenty more – including an exclusive interview with Lembit Opik about his upcoming stand-up comedy debut – can be found at www.londonisfunny.com

Have a lovely week,

Paul
