The battle of the Christmas ads is forever a fierce one, but for me there is only ever one winner. My favourite will always be 2014's epic From London With Love starring Romeo Beckham, but this year Burberry has outshone itself with its three minute epic, The Tale of Thomas Burberry.
Directed by Academy Award-winning filmmaker Asif Kapadia (he of the Amy Winehouse documentary), the mini movie stars Domhnall Gleeson as Mt Burberry himself, Sienna Miller as his love interest and Dominic West as polar explorer Ernest Shackleton. Current Burberry star Lily James also appears as a pilot based on record-breaker Betty Kirby-Green.
It's bold, it's dramatic, it's a sweeping nod to something that could easily be a full length film and considering it tells only the start of the brand's epic tale, it might even possibly be the first of many. Who knows? What we do know is it's a glorious addition to the line up of Christmas ads this year.
