The Scent of Cambridge

Love London

It's always lovely to see a homegrown brand become a success story and Julie Deane's Cambridge Satchel Company most certainly falls into that bracket. Since creating the company from her kitchen table with her mother in 2008, creating their first product inspired by traditional leather school satchels of the past, the company has gone from strength to strength with bags now sold across the globe and Julie awarded an OBE in 2014 for her services to entrepreneurship.

They've now branched out and created a lifestyle collection, just in time for the Christmas gift season, featuring beautiful cashmere scarves and a new home fragrance.

Simply called ‘Cambridge’, Julie has created a bespoke scent which sums up life in her hometown, available in the form of a scented candle and a diffuser. Cambridge University's books are represented by vanillin, with ozonic notes to signify fresh air and crisp water, reminiscent of sitting by the River Cam, and lastly bergamot brings a hint of Earl Grey Tea and flowers (Julie is an avid gardener and believes a cup of tea can fix almost anything). The result is a freshly, clean scent that fills a room with fragrance, a far cry from many scents available on the market it does transport you to a crisp day by the river. Until spring arrives and one can take up that past time once more, it's comes a close second.
