In the summer heat, retreat from the elbow to elbow clamour of Bond Street and try the recently launched iced tea menu on offer from Hush.
The menu is a new incentive for this year and introduces a little diversity to the refreshments scene. The idea is to offer a range of flavoured iced teas, including Jasmine and Strawberry, Chamomile and Peach, Ginger and Lemon, and Summer Rose. If you like your refreshment a little less innocent, then there’s the option of ordering one served ‘spiked’: iced tea jazzed up with a shot of British Hendrick’s gin.
The menu is available in the tranquil courtyard below the bar, although the teas are also on sale inside for those days when our national climate lets the side down. To add even further pleasure in choice, there are a range of dazzlingly light sorbets on offer as a tandem treat. Their flavours include peach, lemon and strawberry, and are all stunning to taste.
The teas themselves are spectacular, and look fabulous. Served in tall glasses, they’re bursting with delicately crushed ice and various floral finishing touches. Like a bright pansy, staring up from the ice in the Summer Rose. All the flavours are remarkably delicate. The teas are scented, but are not in the least part bitter or overwhelming. A subtle balance has been created, giving them a sophisticated character perfectly suspended between sweet and refreshing.
The teas are accompanied by the most sensational macaroons known to humankind. These are made by an independent outlet, discovered by Hush, who have been supplementing Hush’s high tea menu for some time.
With Hush’s central position, these iced teas are well positioned to form a welcome part of this summer’s kicking back. Aimed at the thirsty leaving work, Hush is swanky and all that you’d hope for in a sophisticated drinking venue.
Hush is also notable for its cocktail bar, brassiere, private hire and al fresco dining.
