I don't normally write to complain, however I thought I'd try your restaurant for lunch and was very disappointed. Often the prices are indicative of the quality of service, however in this case both the food was below par and the service awful.

We waited over 40 minutes for our main (only) course to arrive, making us both late for our return to work. The bread offered as we arrived was clearly pre-sliced from a packet, with the promised oil never arriving. The mains were of a standard I'd expect to find in a large chain pub, but at half the price.

Certainly not somewhere I'll be recommending.

The quality of the presentation and food is far below the price point.

It was dead on arrival. There were many tables but only two covers. There
was no music, but as this restaurant is in a basement, not only is there no
mobile signal, there is a huge and noisy air conditioning system on the
ceiling.

They charge £24.25 for a “200g 21 day aged Fillet Steak”, and £19.35 for a
“220g 28 day aged Rib Eye”. This price point is very high.

The cheapest three course non steak based combination would be £19.85 and
the most expensive would be £30.95. Compared with the three course menu from
a top quality restaurant, The Chancery, at £37.50, one would expect a very
high quality service and a high standard of presentation.

The first thing they did was to give us complimentary bread with oil and
vinegar. But the bread was sliced granary bread from a packet, Hovis style!

We did not try the non steak based combinations, but we both got starters. I
had Potted Crab and my friend had Soup. The Potted crab was very nice and I
have no complaints about it. The accompaniments were ridiculous though.
Toasted white bread from a packet with the crusts cut off and some bits of
lettuce.

The quality of the steak dish was appalling. It would have been “okay” had
we been in a cheap pub at £10 for some Zebu, but this restaurant is charging
over £20. It was cut too thinly, it was served with half of a grilled tomato
and around 10 small “hand cut” chips. Oh, sauces such as Bearnaise,
Peppercorn etc.. were £2 extra!

The side orders were about as unimaginative as you could get. Over cooked
Green Beans and steamed Spinach. The quality of the presentation and food is
much lower than low. I mean, even when I just knock something up for myself
at home I do a better job than that.

The kitchen closes at 2100, but they stay open until 2300. If any restaurant
I have eaten in requires Gorden Ramsey's attention, it is this one!
