Here's an unusual one for you; ever thought as you sat relaxing on the WC, I know, this would make a great new bar?! Well, apparently that's close to what happened here at Bermondsey Arts Club which is set on the site of a former, dingy public convenience below street level. Once you've gotten over that rather off-putting (if intriguing) thought as you sup on your beautifully crafted £12 cocktail, you'll no doubt appreciate the magnitude of what they've achieved here. There are many hints to it's past (the tiled walls, black and white colours for example) but nothing to suggest a dingy and dirty past; instead this has become a decadant, beautifully restored and enhanced art-deco venue that makes you feel a million dollars as you prop up the bar with your old Negroni.

London's best venues in converted toilets
Spotlessly clean, and serving you beer
There are cocktails and jazz nights at this cool, art-deco style bar in Bermondsey. They specialise in negronis and strong gin-based drinks like Bermondsey Gardens, made with cucumber, mint and apple. It's tiny (for obvious reasons), so apply for free membership and get priority bookings.
