The Prince Arthur is a traditional neighborhood local public house serving excellent real ales, draught lagers and a fine selection of wine and spirits.

The classic Victorian building from 1861 has been carefully restored retaining all its original features including the solid bar counter and back bar. A menu of British seasonal food sourced from select quality farms and Billingsgate fish market is available daily. The entire venue is available for hire for up to 80 people, ideal for small wedding receptions, birthday celebration, engagement parties or christenings.

The Prince Arthur does little wrong and remains a splendid little pub.

Lodged in on a cozy corner in an affluent enclave of Hackney, The Prince Arthur didn’t need psychic abilities to predict that a sweet little pub with excellent food would do well here. And boy, do well it does. As charming a pub as you’ll find, The Prince Arthur mixes the traditional with the contemporary, peppering itself with heavy wooden tables, sparkling brass and stuffed animals to create a jaunty scene to surround its horseshoe bar.

Approach it with a squint and you might this could appear to be the hub of some chummy English village. Inside, and minus the squint, the atmosphere would back that up. Filled with a genial sort of crowd who appear to like their local gastro whilst not liking it so much that you can’t too. A more mature port of call than a lot of the other popular pubs in the area there’s certainly a charm to what brothers Tom and Ed Martin have done with the place.

The Sunday roast is excellent here but for more chance of finding a table, weekday evenings are advised. The burger is without doubt one of the best pub-patties around and there’s no going wrong with the aged steak or the classic fish and chips. It also boasts a well-selected stock of bottled beers that include Meantime brews and less commercial world lagers to go along with Almstel and Heineken on draught. The wine starts from around £14.50 a bottle, which like the price of the food, is a little on the steep side. Forget about the complaints about the rather high prices and The Prince Arthur does little wrong and remains a splendid little pub.

My only problem with the Prince Arthur is the ambiance that comes with the nighttime. Or rather, lack of...

Please dim the lights! Aside from that, it's a great pub. Good food (pricey), friendly staff and a beautifully simple interior.

This is the perfect little local. It has a comfy and warm atmosphere, great service, and nice people working here. Sunday afternoons here go all to quickly... The roasts are particularly good too.
