The Lauriston

The group that own the Lauriston have a steadily growing collection of pubs and it seems that as numbers increase, so does the quality. Having not been to the Lauriston for a few years, a recent visit proved fruitful. Even in an area like Victoria Park Village where the location is as much of a draw as the venue itself, the pub is pushing itself.

Excellent stone-baked pizza, DJs, interesting beers, live music, karaoke and a free jukebox contribute to a lively pub. Located on the corner of Lauriston Road and a short walk from Victoria Park, the pub operates in a large open space. Sporting events are shown on the big screen at the back, there is plenty of space to eat and there’s even a makeshift dance floor for the weekend DJs.

The pizzas are a star attraction here and during the summer the pub even offers the Pizza in the Park takeaway service. Mounted on a bike, a member of staff rides around Victoria Park (weather permitting) and collects orders and delivers them back to your spot. Have you ever thought of a better idea than that? I haven’t. Not ever. Ranging from £6.50 to £10.00 depending on your choice of gourmet topping, they are a reasonable acquisition both inside and out.

Draught beer includes Erdinger, Leffe and Red Stripe and since the Northern Soul DJs play into the early hours, it’s only right that they have shooter deals and the obligatory Jager Bombs to loosen you up.

Having eaten a pizza and selected a fair few tunes on the FREE jukebox you’ll be preaching about the merits of The Lauriston. It may be all the way out in Victoria Park Village but it’s more than just a local.
