I remember seeing Roy Weird's Last Post at the Ruskin Arms back in 1981, among many other bands, we lived in an acid-fuelled squat in south-east London and a trip through the Blackwall Tunnel was a fantastic Saturday night out!

The ruskin arms was fantastic, had so many good times. Roy weirds last post, Deep machine, Electrix, sam apple pie, so many great bands, Iron maiden thankyou concert there under their old name "Ghengis Khan" was something i will never forget, i had Bruce Dickinsons footprint on my shoulder :)
The Ruskin is still going, not as good as it used to be, but still a good night out.

i frequented the ruskin arms from 1981 until about 1997. I saw various bands including Electrix, Last Post, Deep Machine and various others. I made a lot of friends there and it was the best place to be in my eyes. There was never any trouble there and the people and bar people were always very pleasant. Neal Kaye was the DJ I used to see down there aswell as Colin and TF Much. I will go down there before it closes in December.

A piece of rock history is dying.
Soon to be gone is the legend that was the Ruskin Arms.In Dec 08 the former birthplace of Rock Icons Iron Maiden is being turned into a surgery and flats. Gone will be my refuge and 2nd home during my youth. I dont think it ever recovered since Joe Lucy(RIP) the former landlord died.
No more trips down memory lane for me. So to S.A.A.C. The Zoo, The Tilbury Mob, Colin and his radio caroline Rockshow and all the ever friendy genuine people who frequented this shrine in its heyday it would be great to give this old mother of a venue a good send off. Anyone up for getting their head down for one last night? I will be there with snakebite in hand and ears buzzing.Rock may never die but this place will be immortal within me. One last hocus pocus by focus
