Basically decent quality meat, but they fall down on their steaks. Do not cut them correctly and very expensive. The most expensive I've ever bought, and so badly butchered. May be because many of the neighborhood rely on take-aways and not really involved in real cooking. Will not go there again despite mainly good meats.

I agree with the previous positive review about J Seal, the butchers in Barnes. They offer an excellent service and yes, of course, their prices are higher supermarkets, but the meat is more flavourful, there is a greater range (in fact you can order almost anything and they will source it for you), and can be pre-prepared in whatever way best suits you. My family doesn't even live in Barnes, but we make a special weekly trip to both Seals and the Farmer's Market, precisely because of the quality and service. I have to make savings elsewhere in my weekly shop, but I am lucky enough not to have to stint on quality of meat and fresh produce. It is wonderful to have a dedicated butcher's shop with butchers who really know their meat and cuts. Long may it thrive.

in answer to the last review-fiet steak(check the spelling) from seales can hardly be compared to tescos. yes it is mre expensive, but the quality is completely different. i have shopped in seales for abour 20yrs and the service, quality etc is 2nd to none. The staff are very helpful and knowledgeable.

We have just moved to the Barnes (from Pimlico) area and were recommended Seals butchers. At £45 per kilo for fillet stake it makes them the most expensive butcher I have ever been to in London. As a price comparison Waitrose in East Sheen is at 26.99 per Kilo or Tesco's down the A3 is at 22.99 per Kilo. In summary for the £188 pounds I spent it was probably the worst value for money I had over Christmas: and yes I was not paying for anything special compared to what I could get elsewhere.
