I took my eternity band to Channings (originally purchased there) to get a chipped diamond replaced. I provided their original valuation document when I submitted it for repair.

The diamond was replaced with one of lesser quality, as it was grey in colour. To be sure, I took the ring to an independent valuer who confirmed, the diamond was not the same quality as the Channings valuation document stated. I took the ring back to Channings and the manager said the diamond could have changed colour if I had knocked the ring. When I said I didn’t think this was likely she yelled, ‘Are YOU a gemmologist?’

I contacted the independent valuer again (a gemmologist) and queried whether the diamond could have changed colour because of an impact and he said, ‘absolutely not’.

Channings finally agreed to replace the diamond again, but the manager's rude and defensive reaction and not taking responsibility for their obvious lack in internal quality controls, make me

My fiancée had a repair done on a family heirloom ring. They replaced the missing stone, but didn't bother to fix the setting itself, so it has since fallen out again. After shopping around in Hatton Garden, we have also discovered that, in addition to doing a poor job, they hugely overcharged for the repair work vs other jewellers in the area. Very disappointing

We bought my engagement and wedding ring less than 2 years ago. Since the one of the stones appeared chipped and another stone dropped out. Not the quality I expect for a lifelong engagement ring. Channings repaired/replaced on both occasions. Since then another stone has chipped, following numerous emails to them I have received no response what so ever.
Overall, very pretty ring but poor quality and durability.

We had our wedding rings made to order. One of ththis was not rings needed slight adjustment but this was not a problem.

Service was second to none. . Very polite and professional.

Highly recommend this jewellers.

My husband wanted to treat me to some custom made earrings for my birthday. We spent the best part of a day taking a picture around several shops in hatton garden, most of whom didn't seem very interested in our custom. Channings was the last shop we went to (I was ready to give up)! I was approached outside the shop by a very friendly woman who told me they could make anything I wanted. They took all of the details and my earrings were everything I expected them to be and then some. Would highly recommend Channings.

I have found the staff here to be absolutely fantastic - I've met a few of them now since initial scoping of ideas for engagement ring, viewing different diamonds, having the ring sized, buying wedding bands, and cleaning. Everyone has been great, and they recognise us by name. Free resizing, and cleaning, and 30% of the wedding bands. They really helped a nervous boyfriend get himself sorted out with a ring his fiance loves.

Firstly I would like to say my fiance received exceptional service at Channings. He did the daunting task of finding a ring himself before he proposed. He said they made him feel extremely welcome, comfortable and listened to exactly what he wanted. In the end they created a ring for him, as he was so specific in what he had in mind. He said he had been to other jewelers within the vicinity and they were not half as helpful or accommodating to his needs. My engagement ring is extremely beautiful and when we visited Channings after our engagement to thank them, they really were very lovely. We are now going in to get our wedding rings with our 30% discount we received from them.

Also I would like to point out in response to the haggling comments..Channings is not an Egyptian market it is a respected jewelers and I would never go in expecting to haggle for my engagement or wedding rings!!

Rude, rude, rude!

For a jewellers on Hatton Gardens you'd expect them to be used to a little haggling. Apparently not! One male shop assistant took offence to this saying i was too pushy and subsequently refused to talk to me, only addressing my wife. This actually happened! I obviously complained there and then. All the other shop assistants were happy to sit back and watch until they saw another customer approaching the store. Only then did they step in - to do little more then get us out the store.

Unbelievably poor customer service. Do not go here, they'll take you money then kick you out the door!

Terrible terrible customer service!!

When you are a buyer they treat you quite well, but don't expect that when you paid the money!!

We paid over £2000 for my husband's wedding band. The little diamond of his ring is not straight and the ring it a bit too big

Since we needed the ring and we live about 2 hours away from london, we just gave them a call to confirm that we can sort it out later on.

Since then we went to this shop 3 times and every time they send us away with a stupid reasons. Last time going there, they said they DON'T RECOGNISE the ring at all and I must have taken my paperwork even for a polish!!

It is the first time ever my husband wanted his ring polished and they said we have to pay for it. This is while I got my rings polished free of charged in another shop in Hatton Garden for free!

Save your time and emotions for better things than convincing these people that the have to give you at least some customer service after paying all that money which goes towards their salary!

NEVER EVER WOULD GO BACK OR RECOMMEND THIS PLACE,

The ring is not ours, and you have supplied no paperwork to the contrary.

We have asked you every time to please bring proof of purchase, as the ring is not recognisable as one of our pieces.

We will be very happy to perform any works needed to the ring if you can produce proof of purchase.

I wish I had read this posting before going there!!!!!

They were very good on delivering the promise of a custom made diamond ring that would fit perfectly! Unfortunately, when that was not the case and we went back, we were met with the same attitute, and rude remarks as in the previous posting about us. Not once did we raise our voice and shout, but cannot say the same for Channings. Customer certainly did not come first there. We were shocked and dumbfounded, so much so that we could barely say anything.

What it boiled down to was that, and I quote them saying, "I cannot tell you how to wear your trousers, and so I cannot possibly tell you how to wear your ring".

I also quote from one colleague to another "Just deal with them and get them out of here".

Odd that they sold us the ring on it being custom made in their own workshop, but when we asked about a fix to the ring size, we were told it had to be sent away to an external company, who as it happens, changes a LOT for that type of work! Hmmmm, false promises?

I have a lot more to say, but, I'll stop here in the hope that these comments I have made will help others in making a more informed decision.

RIP OFF!!! After being quoted for our wedding ring of £1000 and told to place the order within a week. we called back 1 week later to be told by the manager that platinum prices had gone up by £700 IN 1 WEEK! and mark up of 70%. We did our research and found out it had only gone up by £60. However when we tried to convey our findings, we were met with a very rude and hostile attitude! Disgusting...very unprofessional!
