The Master Cobbler

Our son's beloved Dr Marten's had cracked and broken so his socks showed through. We all thought it was the end of the road! But Jimmy looked at them from afar (thanks modern technology) and assured us that he could repair them. And he did!! And fixed all the other nagging bits wrong with them as well. Modestly priced (far less than I expected for London), great shop and what a fun, knowledgeable and cheerful guy. From two gashes across the top where the shoe bends, to a refurbished pair good for another several years, it was a masterly show. Our son's comments on their return: "Reunited! They're super! A terrific job! And what is visible of the stitching works so well aesthetically with the shoe!!" Got some beloved shoes that need repairing? This is the guy to do it for you!!! This is a wonderful shop. Knowledgeable, practical and considerate people. They have not installed any locks for us, so I cannot comment on that. I have come in for portable locks, and they have urged me to consider ones that were less expensive, but better for my needs; I have gone in late, and they have patiently taken on my job; they they've made new keys for me which invariably have worked, and not been terribly expensive; they've even done a few small things gratis; and I have seen them treat customers down on their luck with kindness. All in all, its a place I enjoy going into, and always come out with the job done and feeling better.

I took my Doc Marten sandals in which another cobbler told me they could not repair, but these gents happily replaced the toe and heel of the soles for me for a good price - and now they look SO much better. They turned them around in less than 4 days (including the weekend) with a great level of customer service! I couldn't recommend more, personally. :)

Massive markup and rude staff.

Sign on the counter says “CASH ONLY” with a card machine alongside it. When I asked if it was cash only I was met with an incredulous response. Was able to pay a hugely inflated price using contactless.

I’ve previously had a great service here but today has put me off. I’ll go elsewhere in future and recommend you do the same.

Top cobblers. Always re-sole my shoes perfectly which are always better than when I first buy them!
Their workmanship lasts for years and I never have found better cobblers since.

Made the mistake of buying a leather care product from Master Cobbler, only to then find the identical product on eBay for 40% cheaper

How can they improve? Reduce their outrageous prices significantly

Please avoid - awful workmanship and customer service. Took boots for new heels, £25, 2 days later heel fell off while away on a break. Apparently no glue had been used - took back to shop, same surly lads as before, no apology but accepted their offer to re -do heel, collected again and to my shock their 'repair' did not involve re-glueing heel but sticking some wood screws through the inside of the shoe. Have taken elsewhere, new cobbler pretty amazed and am waiting for his verdict on what damage they have done to my £250 boots- and of course his bill for putting right. Unless you enjoy surly staff, paying twice for one job, wasting your lunch hours and just a general level of disrespect for the customer and for their own work then please take your business elsewhere because this lot don't give a toss.

Great service from a real professional set up really friendly people took my leather jacket to replace the buttons and other repairs which many other tailors couldn't handle but master cobblers they did a first class job at a great price highly recommended i also take my expensive leather shoes there to get a fantastic repair job for the shoes highly recommended
