I have read all the above reviews . I have a huge problem with the Irish embassy passport application . I applied and paid on 9th June 2021 and still have no passport or money back . I could have had a British passport within two weeks .
Why oh why is it so bad. Cant phone .wrote three letters and not a single reply . A very unhappy Irish born woman.

I tried phoning the embassy and got through to an automated service that due to call demand, tells me that I can't speak to anyone, but rather than put me in a queue, itjust cuts you off

Shameful service from passport office..Someone's finally answered the phone at passport office, and when i complained about the service, i was greeted by the rudest, most indignant woman ive encountered in a long time...not only did she not accept that they were not answering their phones, nor apologize, but was utterly rude to me...my only regret is that i didnt take her name..what a poor way to treat fellow irish citizens..

For 4 days, I continuously phoned the passport information office. Each time I got a recorded message saying that there was a high volume of calls and to call back another time - then disconnect. When it was eventually passed on, I got a recorded message saying to visit the website. This service is an utter disgrace and only helps to validate "Irish" jokes. I am thoroughly ashamed.

NIGHTMARE....Trying to get through for 2 weeks and can't even get anyone to pick up the phone so i can apply for a renewal for my daughter.Online useless too. If they don't pick up the phone for another week then she'll have to have an English passport!!!!! Terrible service.

I have had the same experience as the lady above. I found the lady I dealt with in the embassy very pleasant but beyond that it's been a nightmare. It's been 7 weeks since I applied for my passport and it's only today the the status changed from 'received and registered' to 'checking'. Despite attaching details of my flight (which I have now missed and it's looking ever more likely that I will also be missing my rescheduled flight) the process seems to be even slower than the lady told me to expect.

I really think they should stop advertising a ten day service if you bring in your application as this no longer seems to be anywhere near the situation.

The Irish Embassy Passport service is one of the poorest I have come across. The telephone line, manned between 9.30 and 12 noon, is nothing but a joke. There is a message on it to say staff are too busy to answer and please try later. However, there is never a 'later' as I have been trying constantly for the past month and have still been unable to get through. The fast-track service seems to be no longer available and I am told passports now take 8-12 weeks to process - even in the most straightforward cases. My passport is still valid but will unfortunately run out when my family goes on holiday next week, so it seems I may not be able to travel with my husband and son for our summer holiday. I am not going to pretend I have a dying relative so my application is apparently bottom of the pile. The rest of my family have British passports and we have never had a problem with their applications which can be much more easily processed. Well, I'm off to the passport office again today!! Let's hope some of my complaints have reached a sympathetic ear but so far, I've only had standard responses.
