There was a time when the Edgware Road subway was unsavoury to say the least, but its faithful kiosk has now been rebranded as a gallery that pays homage to pop culture and rock and roll. Artist Robert Gordon McHarg III conceived the idea in 2006, and as gimmicky as it may have seemed at the time there is no doubt that passing through this underground tunnel is a rather more pleasant experience nowadays (although it’s doubtful Brian Sewell would agree). Most of the artists showcased here are up and coming, and McHarg proudly bills the Subway an “outsider artist-run gallery”. It’s open Monday to Saturday and entry is free.
