I had a prescription facial here and I am sorry to say I was disappointed.

When booking I was unsure which facial to book and a friendly therapist advised over the phone that I should book in for a prescription facial so that any concerns I had could be addressed during treatment. The treatment itself was pleasant enough and the therapist wasn't unfriendly, but there was virtually no communication and any attempt I made to communicate was pretty much ignored to the point where I didn't feel comfortable asking questions. Not once was I asked what type of skin I had or what concerns I might have. It would have been nice to be told at the very least what she was doing and which products she was using... and some warning prior to having hot steam on my face would have been nice!

What was really disappointing, however, was the fact that I didn't get the full length treatment (60 mins) as advertised. My treatment lasted 45 minutes - 10 minutes of which involved the therapist leaving the room whilst the face mask dried. When I was paying, the Receptionist did ask how my treatment was and I told her that it was nice, but that it seemed a little short and politely questioned whether it was supposed to be a 60 min treatment. I was told that some people only need 45 mins whereas others receive over an hour (lucky them!), depending on what type of skin they have - she also said something about neck massages which was unclear. This wasn't a particularly satisfactory explanation and when I suggested that they should probably let people know that in advance, the Receptionist smirked and her attitude was pretty appalling, frankly.

I left feeling angry and I don't think I was treated fairly - for a business that is in the business of making people feel good, I'd say that's a pretty big deal. I would not come back here for a facial or any other treatment and I certainly wouldn't recommend it to anyone. A real shame.

I was very disappointed with the service at this spa.

I was brought a voucher as a gift for a facial, but the spas records did not correspond with the voucher. I was told that it was actually worth £59 not £79. I confirmed with the person who bought me the voucher that it did in fact cost £79. Unfortunately they couldn’t accommodate this treatment time wise, so I asked for a refund of the £20 as I didn’t want to reschedule. 35 minutes later and after talking to 2 different managers nothing was resolved (and I could have had the 90 min treatment after all). I was rudely spoken to by the manager and patronised so much so I cried when I got off the phone. This was meant to be a relaxing treat after all and it had cost my sister a lot of money. Anyway, I cut my losses and went for the facial.

Although the girl who did the treatment was nice, she appeared to lack experience. I had a “prescription facial” but was not told anything about my skin or what products they were going to use. The massage while the mask was setting was poor and appeared to lack effort. To top it off it the hot and noisy treatment room (during our mini heat wave), I had to endure 5 minutes of hot steam on my face. I would have thought they may have tailored the facial to the heat wave and not made me more hot and uncomfortable than necessary.

All in all this was a disappointing experience and I would not go back or recommend it to a friend.

Has a therapist working at Kimantra I can say we pride ourselves on listening to customers give us feedback, this helps us to improve our excellent service. After every treatment we always ask our customers if they enjoyed thier treatment. I am happy to say a vast majority are pleased and return back or refer friends. If a customer is unhappy we always try to remedy the problem immediately to ensure the customer leaves happy. This is the policy at Kimantra and I am very proud of that.
When I read a bad review of our spa on a web forum it makes we think why didnt the customer speak to us first? We are very approachable and my boss is very understanding. Its a real shame that some people need to express thier views via sites and not to the business concerned. When I read the negative review posted on this site I was shocked as I remembered the customer. Bizarely this customer tipped the staff and wrote a positive feedback in our book, isnt life strange sometimes....

I wanted to surprise my girlfriend with a treat as she was flying over from S.Africa to see me. I wanted to give her something different and thought she would love a massage after her long flight. Kimantra was suggested to me by a friend, who said they offered a hot bath on the roof and massage package. I made enquiries and booked the package for us both(£180.00). I must say the spa was really cool, they arranged a bouquet of flowers and a bottle of champagne for my girlfriend( nice touch).
We both shared a hot bath with oils and salts then had 1 hour deep tiisue massage. Afterwards we both felt totally amazing. My girlfriend said it was the best home comming gift she had ever had. I will definitely recomend this place to try particularly as the bath and massage package is seriously good.
Have your say
