I've just picked up my bike after having a safety check. From how my bike felt riding it there, to how it felt riding it home, I'd highly recommend taking it there. Brakes were tighter, gears were smoother shifting, tire pressure perfect. For me it was value after the nightmare I had at trying to do things myself. If you're having similar trouble it would be the place to go. Thanks to everyone at Pedal It.

As a female cyclist I was made to feel like I had no clue. I felt uncomfortable, I thought he was rude in his manner and the quote I had for the bike was ridiculous. I was made to feel that the bike was not safe if I rode another mile. I felt like I was held to ransom and had to have the bike repaired or I would be putting myself at risk. Cycling isn't safe anyway I take the risk everyday. I left the bike as I had no other option they did not call to say when it we ready and I had to chase them! Then when I picked up bike they had lost a pedal. They replaced the pedals though!

Thanks for the response it's appreciated and sorry it's taken a little time to respond to you.

Although I am not the person who origianlly booked in your bicycle I do remember you and your bicycle and the history of it. More so that it had sentimental value and obviously the distress that something has been misplaced/lost more so the pedals as the rest of the bicycle had been repaired and collected by yourself.

Our intenetion is to assess and repair bicycles so that they are in a safe working order to the guides of the ACT and Cyctech, The training we and other cycle shops go through are recognised qulaifications within the cycle industry and give both mechanical and a basicengineering (this dependant upon year of qualification).

When brining in a bicycle we do give an on-the-spot estimation/guide price to what is required to keep your bicycle and more importantly yourself safe, our evaluation comes from time and
experience from working in the cycle industry and what we have seen and experienced along with various training organisations.

There are also various websites and points of reference that can help to show you what to look at and help keep your bicycle in a good safe working condition, here are just a few
sheldonbrown.com/home.html
bicycling.about.com/od/allaboutyourbike/a/five_bike_check.htm
bicycletutor.com/chain-wear/ This is helpful although would recommend the Park Tool chain checker, as very easy to use.

With regards to your shopping experience you had received, I can only apologise as this is never our intention to make customers feel uncomfortable nor do we feel we hold anybody to ransom, as not to riducle your reply, yet the door does open both ways and you could have decided to leave with your bicycle at any point and nobody had held a weapon to you and I am pretty certain our CCTV can verify this!?

I'm also a little unsure about your comment in having to constantly chase us? Although I again apologise that you felt this way as we try to ensure we give clear information to when a bicycle is ready, both verbal and written, as having repairs just sitting around for long periods as this takes up space and reduces the work we are able to take-in.

Although I am not sure if you will ever decide to return to us, yet I do trust your bicycle was in good working condition once collected? I'm also happy to refund your labour cost(just let me know how you would like the refund, cheque, card, BACS, other) as a sign of good-will and any inconveneience we may have caused you and once again our apologies in the loss of your pedal as appreciate the sentimental value your bicycle has.

Regards

I've been coming here for a while. The service is good, and the mechanics know their stuff. But their time keeping leaves a lot to be desired.

They advertise that they open at 8:30am on Sat. I arrived at 8:30 and waited 50mins before giving up, as no one had turned up to open the shop. This meant I missed the club ride that wanted do.

like I say, it's a pity, because apart from this, it's great local bike shop.

Response from Mark Manager
Thanks for the response and apologies it's taken time to reply as only just noticed it.

We do try to strive at being on-time if not a little earlier, not sure why the shop opened so late and my sincere apologies for the delay.

The next time you are in-store please make yourself known as would be more than happy to compensate you for the in-convenience and thanks for giving us feedback.

I took a clapped out old bike that a friend had given me to The Bike Shop. They were friendly and helpful and soon sorted me out with a far more suitable bike for a very fair price. The chap who advised me seemed very knowledgeable and competent and took a pride in his job. I would recommend this shop to anyone looking for a new or second hand bike.

My rear tyre had split and i had a puncture. I phoned The Bike Shop, explained i only had about 20mins before going back to work, i was told to come straight away. The staff were friendly and welcoming, my bike was fixed in under 15mins, and the cost was very reasonable. i will definatly recommend this shop to friends and in January i will put my bike in for a service. Thank you and Merry Christmas to The Bike Shop,i cant manage without my bike.

Had some maintenance done last year, they replaced my rear cassette, asked for and was charged for Ultegra, just stripped down my bike to discover they gave me 105. I remember at the time the bike came bake with the headset loose and steerer shim bent out of shape.

Not impressed, won't return.
Response from The Bike Shop Management
Dear Sir/Madam,

I have just recently read your review about our shop and the service you have received.

Although I am not sure what exactly happened with your bicycle or why your cassette had been down-graded, yet if you are able to provide further information I would be happy to investigate this.

Also if you are happy to come into the shop and discuss this further it would be appreciated and we can arrange an appropriate discount or alternative means of compensation.
