Visited the premises while waiting to see a play at the Fortune Theatre Oct 2009
A real scruffy place, the toilets are a disgrace, how do they get away with it these days?coffe was good but very little room to sit.Downstairs,if you are able to scale the ladder stairs, is an attempt to make it look like the owner is a Dickens fan"but he is not" there is a plastic bust of Dickens and some pictures on the walls but overall Dickens would not have used the place to eat and drink because of the scruffy state of the place, would have like to have gone upstairs but not allowed I was told. It needs smartning up and better decor, perhaps contacting the fellowship might help, such a shame it would be a great visit.
Charles Dickens serve a variety of light meals as well as sandwiches, snacks and beverages to eat in or take away. Seating on the pavement is provided, weather permitting.
