When I got to the Desira Southgate (London Colney) garage, they said that I had been mis-quoted, tut tutted about their central call centre staff, and said that the work would actually cost £1,200 and not the £478.98 quoted in black and white in the e-mail correspondence (originals available). The garage then refused to do the work. It was not that additional work was required beyond that quoted for, just that they had mis-quoted. I had taken a day's annual leave and incurred petrol costs but left with no work done on my car.
