Hair Solved

I've been wearing extensions for over 10 years, and my experience with Hair Solved has been a disaster from start to finish. Initially, I decided to try this salon because my regular hairdresser moved too far away. I already had very high-quality hair extensions that only needed tightening every 6 weeks. Hair Solved agreed to tighten my existing extensions for a few sessions but insisted that I eventually switch to their hair.

In March, I made the switch to their extensions, which turned out to be the worst decision. The quality of their hair is shockingly poor. It was clear that it was cheap hair from the moment it was installed. The most significant issue is what other hairdressers refer to as a 'beard' – lots of super short bits of hair sewn to the top of the extension row. This technique is used to make cheap hair appear thicker, but it is very uncomfortable as the short bits constantly itch against your scalp.

Additionally, this cheap hair does not flow well. With good quality hair, it still moves like natural hair even after washing. However, the extensions from Hair Solved become rigid, making it painfully obvious where my natural hair ends and the extensions begin. It got to the point that I could only tie my hair up to avoid looking awful.

I contacted Hair Solved about the irritation and damage to my scalp and was told I’d get a call back. After three times chasing, I finally received an email essentially saying they could do nothing to address the issue. I called them to have an open conversation about the fact that the current extensions were hurting my scalp, but they offered no advice or help. They are aware of my concerns and have stated they are fully supportive of me sharing this honest account of what happened. I cannot recommend Hair Solved to anyone. Save your money and your hair – look elsewhere.

Worth noting, there are a number of hairdressers at the salon, but my experience over four visits is that most of them seem to be very junior or trainees. Only two people I encountered fully understood the technique to sew in the hair extensions. Typically, I would be given someone who appeared to be a trainee, who would then spend the whole session asking one of the experienced staff how to do it. Even when one of the experienced staff handled my extensions, the end result was poor (and not just due to the hair quality). After my first visit, I had five of the beads (where the hair is sewn) completely slide out. This has never happened to me anywhere else.

The hair they use also doesn't come in as many colors as better quality hair. This meant they persuaded me to use a combination of a shade darker and a shade lighter. I wasn't totally sure about the coloring, but several of the hairdressers looked at it and hyped it up, convincing me it would look great. I'm not sure if they genuinely believed it looked great or if they're just drinking their own Kool-Aid.

On one occasion, I asked them to dye my hair specifically to cover the few grey hairs I had. After the coloring was done, I pointed out several grey hairs they had completely missed. They proceeded to cut the individual hairs out. Seeing as this is a salon specifically for people with thin hair, I would have thought they'd take more care to do the color sufficiently and not need to resort to thinning the hair further. Once again, it felt like a trainee was doing the coloring, constantly asking for directions at each step.

Overall, my experience with Hair Solved was incredibly disappointing, and I cannot recommend this salon to anyone looking for quality hair extensions and professional service. I've since returned to my old hairdresser, despite the long journey, and she has fixed the color and hair. She was shocked at the state of it and couldn't believe the damage it was doing to my scalp.
