Warning! Do not buy an Amazon gift card at Wilko, Kensington High Street, London W8.
I bought a £60 card there for my son's birthday, and when he tried to use it, he discovered that it was blank. It had never been activated. I got a receipt for my £60 with this card. The card I had initially handed to the till assistant had unaccountably vanished, though its code number appeared on my receipt. The code number of the blank card was entirely different.
When our son raised the matter with the store, he was told that the store would investigate, and get back to him, and to me as purchaser of the card.
Five days passed with no news, so I went to the shop with my husband and had a long and fruitless discussion with the manager. He said he could not authorise a replacement card, or a refund, and that I had probably lost my money.
We have informed Amazon Customer Services about this, and await a response. Needless to say, we shall not use this shop again.
