Have been a customer 20 + years. Alan takes pride in personal, profeessional and very high-quality service. I am always happy with cut I get. Cheeky banter also a plus..

It took me 19 years of living in north London to find Alan's hair studio in the late 90s and I continue to get my hair done there in 2018. Alan is an extremely skilled stylist and cutter and that plus the conversation and music make it a place to always come back to, even from Spain.

I've been coming to Alan for four years or so, and the appointment is a perennial delight. He graciously puts up with my preposterous requests and finickiness. Consistent cuts if that's what you want, but always willing to experiment, too, and happy to adjust what might not be working. Banging tunes a big plus. Banter off the charts. I'm not going anywhere else!

Alan's been cutting my hair for over 15 years and I wouldn't dream of going anywhere else. He never rushes and delivers a fantastic cut every time. The chat is great and so is the music. Simply the best!

I have been coming to Highbury Hair Design for the last sevens years and they are simply the best in the area. I have been to several others and they cannot compete with Alan and Katerina's great service and sassoon styled cuts. Great cuts, top laughs, brilliant tunes, cant ask for much more.

Proper trained hairdressers. Alan and Katerina are experts at their art. I trust both of them to do a professional job and am never dissappointed.
Well worth the 3 mile bike ride to get there from where I live in Clapton.
Highly recommended.

I have been going here for a couple of years now. Ask for Katerina, she is Sassoon trained and is absolutely fantastic.

I've been coming here since 1998. It's great and very friendly. I wouldn't go anywhere else because I've always had great haircuts accompanied by lots of laughs!

For the last 2 years, since my regular barber moved back to Cyprus for a well earned retirement, I've been stumbling between average and poor haircuts. Not anymore. On cold December evening I dived into the Highbury Hair Studio, even though it was a few minutes before closing Alan took his time to give me the best cut I've had in ages. I've since been back and sincerely hope Alan won't be retiring anytime soon. A great cut, great banter and good value.

I've frequented Highbury Hair Design on an almost-monthly basis for over 10 years now. This itself is proof enough of the consistently good service I've received over this period from Alan & co. As the other reviews have mentioned, they offer top cuts at a competitive price, with a cosy atmosphere. Well worth a visit if you live around the area.

I second the review below and all the other great reviews here. I've been going to Alan & Katrina for about 5 years now and unless I move out of London I wouldn't consider going anywhere else. Fantastic service and incredibly good value for money. This place is a true gem, which I can't recommend highly enough.

Alan and Katrina both provide the best possible service, I've been a customer for about 10 years and can honestly say of the many, many London hairdressers I've tried this is by far the most reliable, high standard cut you could hope for. Of course it's a bonus that it's local, but the attention to detail, the ambience and the casual chat mean it's a place I will always come back to. You probably need to book, but give them a call and get on their list - I can't imagine you will regret it.
In Short - Better than many West End Salons and no where near the extortionate fee they charge.

6 years ago I was wandering down Blackstock Road trying to avoid another barber shop. By chance I discovered Vidal Sasson cuts at a great price done by the legend that is Alan at Highbury Hair Studio.
Alan is a perfectionist with high standards and even better banter - he may support Arsenal but don't hold that against him.
I wouldn't trust anyone else to cut my hair - so much so that when living in Soho, I still trekked up to North London for a hair cut by Alan.
Once you try Alan's scissor hair cut, you'll be back every time. But don't all rush at once - he still needs to book me in

I have been a regular customer of this Barbers for over 8 years. The haircuts are always top notch whether carried out by Alan (the owner) or one of his assistants (Sassoon trained according to Alan!). I go back mostly because of the consistency and quality of the cuts, but also because of the cool laid back environment, banter (Alan always has a good story to tell)and eclectic music that's usually playing in the background. Way better than the "scalp'em" local Turkish options, and way cheaper (but just as good) as the soulless boutique salons charging way over £30+. Honest value for mo

Finding a good haircut in London is not easy but this place is definitely at the top of the list. It's only small so has a good chilled out vibe, plus they take their time and pay attention to what you want. It's a pretty popular place so you will need to book in advance, but they open late (about 10pm) some nights during the week. It will be hard to find a better cut, especially at this price.

Without doubt the best cut you will get for £22.50 in London.
Having visited a number of west London & city salons during my first 3 years in London in search of a good cut & friendly banter, I finally stumbled across Highbury Hair Design..............and have been nowhere else for the past 7 years. Alan & Katerina are both welcoming & highly skilled hairdressers. Their attention to detail is what sets Highbury Hair Design from others, and this is fully evident in the non-rush approach they adopt.
Some questionable music at times, but this all adds to a very enjoyable and unique experience

Great hairdresser - been going to Alan for a while and never once had a bad cut. I recently moved out the area but still go back to Alan cos he is just the kind of friendly local barber you look for. You won't find a better cut for what you pay.

I've been to a number of hair salons, that, mentioning no names, charge well over £30 for a hair cut, often based largely on their name. Having just moved into the area, I can honestly say that this place gives the best hair cut I've ever had.
For £22.50 you get a full 45 minutes hair cut including washing as well as friendly and banterful chat. It is worth pointing out that they are Vidal Sassoon trained and the advice you receive on the best cut to suit your hair's natural form has given me a style that really works.
Short version: this place comes highly recommended. Ignore any moaners

I have been going to Highbury Studio for a couple of years now. I used to get my hair cut in Covent Garden but Alan really knows what he is doing and is very friendly. For the first time ever, friends have been commenting on my hair cut. My hair used to be very thick and now it's been textured and is more manageable. This is a great men's hairdresser to have locally and is also open late for appointments.

Highbury Hair Design is probaly the coolest Mens Hair Stylists in north london. Vidal Sassoon trained stylists will cut your hair for a fraction of the price of the Sassoon Flagship in Mayfair. The very experienced Alan Morris runs the show. Value for money

This is my favourite hairdresser in London. I tried many and rarely ever went to the same place twice, until I tried this place. I always get a great cut and when I decide I want a different style Alan is always happy to help and give suggestions. Good value too, and they’re open late some weekdays so very convenient. Would definitely recommend!

This is by far THE worst haircut I have ever been a victim off and trust me I done it all students, barbers, budget hairdressing, stuck up stylists you name it.

I tried to explain generally what style I like, but it did not go far, she took her own spin, but without texture or shape, just cut it to the length and styled it, no conversation just rolling eyes and she was texting throughout my appointment.

The most awkward hairdressing appointment I ever had, very unpleasant, hostile even and cut is terrible. Ended up paying £35 to have it corrected.

My search for a great barber in London is finally over! My experience of men's hairdressers has invariably been that they can only do slight variations on the same cut, despite going to great lengths to explain what I want. Have now had my hair cut by both the proprietor here (his name escapes me) and Katharina- both take time to look at the way your hair grows, and try to understand what you're trying to achieve. Great value too (£17.50 for a wash and cut at the time of writing)
