I really miss Friday Night with Jonathan Ross! I find since the whole Andrew Sachs thing, he's afraid of controversy so he's become a bit boring now. The reason I loved Friday Night other than the fact he was a great interviewer was because you didn't know what to expect and now he's just like any other interviewer.

Opinions?

Also, does anyone else think he'll ever go back to the BBC?

Not convinced he ever will.

I agree completely though he's lost his edge. He's still funny but the show is somehow more predictable these days.

Did you see him on the Bear Grylls special? Thought he was funny on that, thought he came across very well on that.

I agree - used to always watch the Friday night show no matter which guests he had on, but will now often find myself flicking over as it's a bit dull. It's the guests that would now make you watch whereas before it was him. Shame as he was such a great talent, but he's losing the edge he had.

Hope he does return to the BBC. Not been the same on ITV.

I guess there could be an element of ITV being stricter with his conduct because they don't want to upset advertisers? I have a friend who worked at the BBC for ages and is now at ITV and she reckons the whole culture there is so different and very conservative and "every man for himself" ... don't think that would suit MR JR..

I'd like him to return to the BBC but I think he'd still hold back also, The Graham Norton Show is no1 now. He gets all the A-listers.

saw graham norton a few weeks ago - can't remember who was on - and the whole show was one big plugging session. i know that's how they get the stars on there if they can plus their new book, films etc - but all the continual plugging really cut into the rhythm of the show - and it was graham doing it all, almost to the point where he'd be interrupting the star telling a story so that he could remind them to plug their DVD. it was really hard to watch.

Yeah I think that has a lot to do with The Graham Norton Show and as much as I like him, I'd like to see Jonathan Ross at the top again. He is by far the best interviewer over both Graham Norton and Alan Carr.

Agreed, JR is a better interviewer than Norton and Carr, although Norton's show is pretty good and the guests seem to get quite into it when they're all on the sofa together.

Noticed tonight's line-up on JR looks decidedly more A-list including David Beckham no less!! Looks like the producers have been reading this thread and taking note of the need to improve :smug:
