Secure car parking

Hi,
I'm due to be visiting London in August for 4 days. Currently can't decide if get the train down from Lancs (saves lot of hassle but could be expensive!) or if i drive to the outskirts and park somewhere getting tube/train in. Does anyone have any good recommendations for a secure car park somewhere around the north west / west london (not sure if I could use Heathrow for example?)?
