Hi everyone

I'm in need of a bit of help as every time I look for somewhere to live and find somewhere I think is ok-ish I look somewhere else and the information I get there is contradictory. I've been looking south of the river and many have suggested Wandsworth. I also have a friend that has lived in Peckham for many years and has told me that she has never had any trouble there but the advie on 'up my street' suggests that this is quite a bad area for crime. I've looked at SW4, SW12 and SW17 but when someone tells you they are good then someone else says they're bad. So I'm getting a bit confused. And I know that it doesn't matter where you live there will always be problems of one sort or another.

There will be myself, my husband and two dogs and we want to rent a 2 bed house up to about £1200-£1300 per month. We need transport links to the city and parking for one car initially. We're a professional couple so we'll want to be near somewhere where we can chill out a bit and have somewhere where we can walk the dogs. We're young over 35 year olds. Any suggestions?

I'd say Wandsworth/Southfields/Earlsfield would be good places to start. They're generally slightly better value than Clapham/Kensington/Putney/Fulham and are still nice. Personally I wouldn't go to Peckham. I'm sure there are bits that are fine, but if you don't know the area you could end up in just the wrong area, and in Peckham wrong can be very wrong!

Good luck!
