Hi!

Bit of a random one - but I recently started working in Mayfair as a concierge. During my lunch hour I have no choice but to leave the building. Restaurants/Cafe's in the area are nice once in a while but a little expensive. Can anyone recommend a nice, cheap cafe (with indoor seating) or somewhere dry to sit when it's raining to eat (a packed) lunch?

Many thanks and all the best.

Oops sorry - completely forgot to get back to you :emb: Will have a think and post back later this pm but in the meantime, have you been to St Christopher's Place? Lovely little area behind Oxford Street (opposite Bond Street) towards the Marylebone side with little cafes/restaurants dotted around there and just around the corner?

...how about

Nanis of Mayfair - they do great value (and homemade) pasta dishes. You can get a great plate of quality hot food for just over a fiver www.allinlondon.co.uk/directory/1150/23756.php

another one to try is Leon off Oxford Circus

have to admit I haven't been to this one, but the other two that I have been to have seating inside that is a bit more pub-style, i.e. you can hide away with a plate of food and a book quite comfortably on a rainy day!

or The Royal Academy on Piccadilly has a cafe which is decent value for money. You can also use the opportunity to wander around to add some culture to your lunch hour!

Hope that's some use as a starter for ten!

Between Oxford Circus Station and Tottenham Court Road Station there is a shopping Centre. There is sports world at the entrance. Just go in this shopping centre and at the second floor there are plenty of fast food restaurants and public seats. Bring your own lunch or buy it from any of these shops.
