We wouldn't go booking a hotel or anything just yet based on this but the rumbling we've heard is the Leicester Square premiere for this will be on Wednesday 16th December (2015... obvs!)

... and the general UK release date is scheduled for 17th December.

Yeah this looks amazing. reckon Abrams will do a better job than Lucas. Great to have all the old stars back too. No Luke on the posters though? Is he not returning?

Abrams said that was deliberate.

Got a theory about that...

***POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT***

I think Luke has turned? There's a bit in the trailer where a voice says "I'll finish what you started" whilst looking a Darth's burnt helmet. Reckon that Luke's gone dark. *SHOCK*HORROR!*

I love the trailers, must have watched them 50 times. Sad I know. I agree with the Luke theaory btw, the baddies look great in the trailers and who wouldn't want one of the new light sabres?!?!?!?!

That theory is probably right, although such an obvious hint would make you think it's perhaps not right, the ol' double reverse physcology... or not?

Lived in London since 2003, it's alright I suppose.

I'm a bloke in my late 30s and I can lie - I'm VERY excited about the release of this film. Sad, isn't it?

Hi Dave,

As far as we know, there's still a Leicester Square premiere event for Star Wars The Force Awakens on 16th December. As you say, the cinemas are yet to post anything but all the rumblings we've heard suggest that this event is happening!
