Just wondered if anyone had any thoughts on where to go/stay away from re hospital maternity units. I'm 5 months pregnant and I just moved from NW London (where I was going to St Mary's) to Surrey and am not sure whether to re-register with a new hospital there. I think Ashford & St Peters Hospital, Kingston Hospital or Royal Surrey are those nearest me but know nothing about them. Anyone got any thoughts on any of these or suggestions on what to look out for in choosing one?

Thanks!!

Come on, surely there must be some mums and dads out there with some advice on this?

There's an All In London YoYo here that you can have if you provide a good answer to this :)

Please can someone give me an answer? I really am stuck as to what to do. Even if you haven't had direct experience of maternity care, maybe you know a good website which compares healthcare services??
Thanks again!

Hi.

I'd to be able to help you but i don't live in that area. I live in West London & have given birth at Queen Charlottes hospital.

Have you thought about going onto some pregnancy/baby forums & asking on their?

Most of the sites have a section for 'London parents' etc, so might be worth having a look on those sites & seeing if anyone has any experience with the hospitals in you're area.

You could try -

www.bounty.com
www.ivillage.co.uk
www.babycentre.co.uk

Go to the forums.

I hope someone will be able to help you out.

never never never go to Hillingdon Hospital !!!

My missus was in and out of there for three days even though in the full throws of labour. As soon as she lay down on the bed the pains went.

Yeah, breach birth, we went through 3 shifts of midwives, all coming in have a poke around then saying, hmmmmm, maybe breach then buggering off and never coming back.

It's quite scary seeing a leg come out first !!
