Great Climate Change Swindle

Just watched this on youtube. Anyone else watched it?

It's clearly very biased on the other side of the generally accepted view of climate change. However, it's made me think about the subject a little more - I've just been going along with what I've been told about climate change - the temperature is rising as a direct result of us pumping too much CO2 into the air.

I think I'm going to have to read more around the subject based on this rather than just believe what I'm fed through the media.

I can't comment on the science as I don't fully understand it although you can't argue with some of the points the film raises - science funding, the new climate change industry - the suppression of the developed world - the anti-industrialisation argument etc.

Interesting stuff

I saw that, based on very dodgy science apparantly - shame as it would have been a nice end to all this eco nonsense. :smug:

"All this eco- nonsense" is all very well, but I'm not sure it helps anyone burying your head in the sand. The most eminent scientists across the world are now in agreement that our actions are having a direct and potentially devastating impact on our climate and planet. It seems to me that dismissing this fact at this stage is arrogant, selfish and dangerous... If everyone did a little then we'd already make a huge collective contribution to reducing the impact - maybe you could put your efforts into doing your bit now rather than living to regret it in years to come.

This is half the problem isn't it - most people see it as having to give up their comfy way of life and that BMW X5 they've always wanted and just managed to finance.

It needs to be sold to people in a totally different way - seeing all of these beardy types ranting on about emissions from evil 4x4 owners is only making it worse. By telling people not to do something will only make them want to do it more. The worst thing for me is the self righteous attitude of people who think they are saving the planet by composting their orange peel and driving a Prius, these people are trying to show everyone how to live an eco friendly life which is completely unneccessary and counter productive.

The government aren't helping by cashing in on the problem, it makes people even more cynical about it.

I think things will only change when cleaner technologies start to filter through and show people that they don't have to live in a treehouse to be green.

doesnt help with China overtaking the USA in the pollution stakes, with more coal fired furnaces being built. Puts not boiling your kettle or throwing out a carrier bag into perspective.

Once again billc we agree :) Rightly or wrongly that is exactly the way I see it. Last weekend at the in-laws I was shown the new kettle that has two compartments - you have to actively filter water in to the boiling section - it's supposed to make you think about how much you need so you only use the required amount... good idea I suppose... but then 20 minutes later we left the house to walk to the supermarket and a 4 litre dodge truck came past - the cynical part of my brain thought how many of these kettles would need to be used to cancel out 1 mile of that bozo's emissions?

I think China are currently finishing 1 new power station each week aren't they? Still, if all of us in the West buy those kettles (which are probably made in China) we should be fine.

Meteriotes are falling more often than usual, and main stream media are ignoring it with the exception of channels like the weather channel and the history channel. These meteorites may be small, but what if it is a sign of something big approaching.
Recently I read a article which highlights how badly we are poised to be effected by these small rocks big and small including asteroids. You may find it
interesting.

Often, some of the most important news comes from local papers, stories that don't make it up the feeding chain and onto the news wires or major newspapers or nightly network news. It can be news that at first glance wouldn't appear to have a national or international impact. Second glance, and a good memory, can reveal that the impact may well be quite significant.

The other day a reader sent us an article link that he found on another alt.news website: Bad news - we are way past our 'extinct by' date

Since we had run the same story back when it first came out, we thought "yeah! Flashback!" After all, with all the talk about Global Warming, it served to remind readers that human caused CO2 levels are not all there is to what is going on here on the BBM today. ...More.....http://www.signs-of-the-times.org/articles/show/128992-Forget+About+Global+Warming%3A+We%27re+One+Step+From+Extinction%21

Thanks kelly676, that puts an interesting spin on the debate.

Quite right. If each of us only give up one little thing from our comfy disposable consumerlifestyle it WOULD make a difference. If you did another little thing each month and just got into a habit of doing so you wouldn't even notice any great change in your life.
How about this.. you go into Greggs for your sandwich which is in a plastic container.. say no to the plastic bag the insist on giving you for one small item, also say no to the half dozen napkins they throw in, you only need one. Buy a thermos cup and when you get your morning coffee at whatever outlet ask them to make it in your cup, most places are happy to oblige.. you will be saving 5 paper cups per week. Carry a reusable bag with you when buying a few items from Sainsburys on the way home, or if you don't have one on your person insist on packing your own bag at the checkout. You have more chance of getting all the items in one bag that way. There a thousand small things you can do. Stop wearing perfume or after shave everyday, save it for special occasions, when one comes around you probably won't bother, lessening the invisable chemical fog around us. (Please don't stop washing though!!). I could go on for hours, but I'm sure you can think of some little way to help our planet all by yourselves.
