As part of an MA project I have written a Manifesto for a Different London...I would love to hear any comments (good or bad) about the manifesto...As a Londoner do you think the city would be a better place if we lived by this manifesto? Do you think it would be possible to live by this manifesto? (I think we could...)

Thanks!

MANIFESTO FOR A DIFFERENT LONDON

CONDUCT
A Londoner must say hello to their neighbours

A Londoner must wave at anyone they recognise

Everyone has the right to cry in public...
anyone crying in public must be comforted

We will not vomit, **** or spit in the streets

We will look the homeless in the eye

We will say sorry

A Londoner can sit in their front garden

We will talk about more than the weather

ECONOMICS
We will cap house prices

We will live within our financial means and will never spend money that we do not have

We do not accept credit cards.

We will only pay for a transport system that works

Bartering and haggling will be encouraged

TRAVEL
We will never get on the tube without letting others off first

Free papers on public transport must carry an equal weighting of positive and negative news, and will never scaremonger

On Monday mornings Londoners should initiate group song on the tube
Commuters should organise book groups for their journeys

We will offer strangers lifts in our cars

Cyclists and black cab drivers will forget their differences and begin again

BELIEFS
A Londoner is not afraid of the next generation...
they must believe in them

A Londoner should presume strangers are friends

The only thing to be hated is hate

Everyone has the right to disagree

Everyone has the right to believe

ACTIONS
We will question ideas that scare us

We will cross the river
East will go West
West will go East

We will leave London at least once every three months

We will have weekly street parties

We will make sacrifices for what we believe in

We will not complain but will instead take control

We will bring the city to a standstill if we disagree with our government

The next generation will make us proud

We will not observe passively but will participate

We will have our ashes scattered on the River Thames

To be honest I think London would be even more scary than it is now if everyone adhered to this.

I think most people in London are very sceptical about anyone who smiles too much or is nice to them for no reason. Londoners treat each other like s%$t in an effort to get to the top of whichever ladder they're on - it's what makes London horrible and it's what makes it the best city on earth.

My 2 cents

65% with you, maybe we need to defend each others in rude situations over the streets aswell.e.g when drunk people attack women. I believe London have serious problems of insecurity and social behaviours..including the tennagers (generation of destruction)

Um...ok, so I'm from Wales so it doesn't really apply to me that much...but it sounds good...except I don't like the sound of the last point too much... :-?
