My sister-in-law had her purse snatched while shopping at Harrod's on Thursday, March 20th. All her cash, money orders, and passport, and other items were in the purse. She could not continue with her group to Italy, so now she's stranded in London. Evidently crime is just not in the suburbs! She will go to the Embassy on Tuesday to try to get her passport (she has a copy of the original) so she can return to the States.

So, if you're visiting London, be aware of your surroundings.

Sorry to hear about that :(

It's a sad fact but yes crime is pretty bad in London and you need to be very careful with your belongings when in large crowded areas.

This is pretty much the same in any major city, there are plenty of cities that are a lot worse than London but this doesn't help when it's you that's been robbed by some low-life.

Good luck to your sister-in-law in sorting it out.

Hopefully she won't hate London because of this.

Real sorry to hear about this. It makes you jumpy every time you go out when a thing like that happens. But its a sad fact that you just have to be on your guard all the time. All places have a bag or purse snatch problem it really isnt confined to the cities. And its not just the UK either. I hope she's ok.

Ah,that's such a shame for her to have such a bad experience...but you know it can happen anywhere.
