I'm trying to organise our new years Eve plans for this year - basically it looks like about 20 of us will be celebrating on the 31st December in a local Hostel that has it's own bar and will be putting on entertainment.

We figure they'll be people from all over the world there and it should be a lot of fun and when we're done partying we only have a few feet to get to our beds, rather then having to worry about getting cabs home, etc

However I want some suggestions for things to do on the Sunday (1st January 2006) in the local area.

Anyone know what will be open on that day and nearby? It would be nice to see some sights of London, but will public transport be running on New Years Day?

Also a nice pub for lunch would be good.

It is quite possible we will be staying over both 31st and 1st going home on the Bank Holiday Monday. Breakfast is provided at the Hostel so we need ideas for lunch and dinner as well.

Hey,

I'm not too sure about the transport for New Years Day but the norm has been for there to be free transport on New years eve in london. If you would like to find out more, get yuor information straight from the horses mouth at the TfL website http://www.tfl.gov.uk/tfl/

As for what to do on new years day, hop on a bus or even walk down to Camden where you will find many great pubs of a colourful variety where you are sure to grab a great meal and a drink to ring in the new year.
