Hi!
I live in outside of UK but I love your country and have been reading a lot of youth stabbing in London. I know your mobile networks are quite advanced so I came up with the idea that might be able to prevent some of these deaths. You only need to implant a small digital camera into the youngsters coat so that It will transmit the video - whenever activated - through the mobile network to a REMOTE pc. Whenever there is an life-threatening situation the boy or girl can say that the faces of these gangs have already been reordered and they can do nothing to erase this. This can prevent them from taking further action - if they are smart enough. I know little about the intellectual levels of these gangs but I assume they are clever enough to understand that they might be well off not killing a guy who has just reordered their faces to a remote, unreachable location. Just an idea. My gift to your nation!) Sorry of that sounds too grandiose...) I will add that the device should be well advertised so that these gangs are aware that such "danger" is existing.
Let me know what you think!

it is a good idea however the problem lies with the gangs. in general gangs will do whatever they want whereever they want, whenever the want. they do their thing in front of cameras as it is - in front of multiple witnesses and even egg on the police so i think perhaps if one were to advertised they were being filmed they'd either continue doing what they were going to do, intensify what they were going to do - or just simp0ly rip off and destroy the camera or the jacket where it is concealed.

just a shit fact of life that we have peopl eout there like that is all :(

I agree with srejic7 - it would most likely only inflame the situation if they knew they had been snapped.

Also, the police do catch a high percentage of the offenders in these knife crime incidents. The reality is I don't think a lot of them are that afriad of being caught. The problem is prison life would probably be an improvement for some of these young people with literally nothing going for them, they quite simply have nothing to lose by comitting these crimes.

It's a massively complex issue and not one that will be solved easily.

i see....thanks for your opinions....inflaming the situation is ok when the life is already at risk....if they are pointing the knife at the victim and he/she says they are being reordered now might stop them...but if they lose nothing by going to jail - that is another question...

I agree i don't think kids care anymore.
Its a really sad world we live in.
London is a scary place & i worry for my kids for when they get older.

A bit off topic but i saw someone post on facebook & he's in prison.... using a mobile phone

:confused2:

I don't know what he's inside for but i do know he's a drug dealer so could possibily be that. The messages he puts on facebook are just stupid & show that being inside for 2 years isn't a big deal to him.

'Bang bang, out in 9 months, then i'll be back on the streets, stabba stabba'.

Looks like he hasn't changed much then!

thanks for your reply....when thinking about this camera I was only thinking about saving children lives...if they know they faces have already been recorded they must be likely to stop...but if these people are not afraid of this it is hard for me to call them people...

Please don't take all of this as criticism of what you're trying to achieve. It's a good idea but in reality I wonder how much difference it would make. In some situations I suppose it could make a difference if the person is only carrying it through as a result of peer pressure - but in cases where the knife carrier is on some kind of power-trip seeking acceptance from gang members then it's probably not going to work.

We need people like you thinking of solutions if we're ever going to get this problem under control so keep up the good work.

thanks for the kind words....personally if I were a parent of a youngster living in London - and if I would be able to afford this - I would hire a professional guard that would keep an eye on my child from the distance...:)
