Oil's getting cheap again - does that mean we're all doomed?

The price of oil is dropping, and will be reflected in petrol prices soon. Then gas prices will follow. (Oil and gas are raw materials for plastic, when one gets expensive manufacturers switch to using the other which then drives up the price. This also works in reverse.)

It's now cheaper for me to drive accross town to see my girlfriend than to use the tube - it's quite a dilemma...

So, does this mean people will start driving more, and turning up the heating at home or are we all now green enough to keep trying to be economical with these things?
