Hey all

first time poster!

i'm off to view a flat next week thats very close to Hackney Downs station. i'd like to hear any pros and cons about the area - how safe it is, how busy the morning trains are, good bars shops etc.

Any info gratefully received.

Sorry you have probably already been to see the flat by now so I am not sure how useful this will be! I live not far from there - closer to Hackney Downs park. The area has its good sides and bad. Firstly the trains are really quiet regular from Hackney Downs as it is where two train lines meet and you can always get to Liverpool Street really easily.

You are half a mile from Dalston which has some great bars, and there is the Pembury Tavern itself right at HD which is fine for a pint. Tesco is very close for groceries.

I have never had any problems walking through the area even late at night, and I am a petite female. However I tend to think men might have more problems as troublesome guys are more likely to confront them than females.

I wouldn't say it's the prettiest area of Hackney I'm afraid, but for transport and convenience and hopefully price, it's good all around. Hope that is of some help!
