This fantastic "Groove" gig features the band of guitarist Bobby Quigley (co-leader of the Carl Hudson Groove Nights), a formidable young musician who includes work with the likes of Pete Ray Biggin, Imaani and Katie Leone on an impressive cv. The music will be an infectious blend of Groove and Jazz featuring a selection of classic groove standards with the occasional "Groove" original thrown in for good measure. As would be expected, the rest of the band is made up of some of the finest musicians on the scene, the remarkable Ross Stanley (Deodato, Simply Red) on keyboards, groove powerhouse Neville Malcolm on bass and the terrific Rod Youngs (Gil Scott-Heron, Natalie Cole) on drums. Bobby's special guest this evening will be the wonderful singer Dionne Bennett. A Londoner now based in Wales, Dionne's powerful, sultry, vocals have been heard with a wide range of bands, including the Cardiff based Earth Band, but she is probably best known as the singer and lyricist with the highly regarded contemporary outfit Slowly Rolling Camera, with whom she gigs and records extensively. With a voice that has been compared to Tina Turner (really), she is definitely the singer to be keeping an eye on. The music is a mix of really great classic groove standards with the occasional high-class groove original, performed by one of the best bands around. Be sure to attend what promises to be a “Groove” extravaganza.

"Dionne Bennett...rightly to the forefront...[a] forceful singer... exquisite... “Unsetting Sun” shows the soulful subtlety of her singing to fine effect" The Jazz Breakfast
