Victoria’s Mass “Salve Regina”, one of the jewels of the Spanish late Renaissance, will be sung by leading London chamber choir Canticum, conducted by Mark Forkgen, in the atmospheric acoustic space of the Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Bayswater. Between the movements of the Mass we interpose heartfelt late 20th century settings of religious texts, in the style sometimes known as mystic minimalism, by the Estonian composer Arvo Pärt and the late Sir John Tavener, including his famous "Song for Athene".
