About: The ranks, regulations and symbolism of Freemasonry are explained at this museum in Holborn. You can also explore the archives and research your family history if you suspect you have an ancestor who may have belonged to the Freemasons. As well as satisfy your curiosity on this often maligned subject, you can admireobjects like the artworks and silver that once belonged to Sir Winston Churchill and Edward VII, both famous Freemasonsthemselves. Regular exhibitions focus on aspects of the Freemasons the general public may not be aware of, such as the show timed to coincide with the 2012 Olympics on sportspeople who were also members of the organisation. There is a comprehensive library, and free tours of the building – where masonic ceremonies have been performed for the last 230 years – are possible. Entry is free and the museum is open Monday to Saturday.

A very interesting museum which explains the rituals of the Freemasons and has some incredible exhibits, like intricately carved clocks among others. Lots of reference books too. It's a pity you can't go upstairs as there seems to be more stuff there, but perhaps they rotate it.
