Min Jiang is five

Min Jiang celebrates five years with ‘Duck Cards’ and a menu of favourites

Min Jiang, the authentic and elegant Chinese restaurant in Kensington, will be five years old on Sunday 8th September 2013. To celebrate, the team is treating every party visiting for lunch on that day to a birthday ‘Duck Card’, which gives them the opportunity to return for a complimentary ‘Legendary wood-fired Beijing Duck’, the restaurant’s signature dish.

The duck, which is cooked in a wood-fired oven by a master chef, is first enjoyed with slices of crispy skin dipped into fine granulated sugar, a classic treat of old Beijing traditionally offered to ladies. It is then served with pancakes and two types of garnish, the traditional sweet sauce with shredded leeks and cucumber, and Min Jiang’s contemporary version: garlic paste with radish and Tientsin cabbage. Finally, guests can choose between several dishes for the remainder of the duck, such as spicy minced duck with a lettuce wrap, a soup, a noodle or a rice-based dish.

Throughout the month of September, the restaurant is also offering a celebratory tasting menu of their most popular dishes so far. As well as the wood-fired duck, there is also a platter of steamed dim sum, another of Min Jiang’s most well-known dishes, plus several others including steamed fillet of sea bass with ginger and spring onion, and sautéed Gong Bao tiger prawns. The menu costs £68 per person and includes Min Jiang’s most popular cocktail - the Oriental Mojito, which is made with the addition of watermelon for a fruity kick.
