Imágenes Recordings co-founder and producer Jorge Montiel releases his new single “Enamoreme” with Heidi Vogel and his music partner, Juan Laya. As one of London’s most effusive champions of latin-infused music Jorge has just started a new DJ residency at The Maine in Mayfair bi-monthly on Saturdays and catch him in action this Bank Holiday weekend Friday August 25th at Park Row, Soho, and on Sunday 27th at Cecconi’s Soho.
Over the last decade Imágenes Recordings have clocked up over over 130 releases spawning an impressive musical catalogue that includes projects and collabs with UK soul icon, Omar, Andre Espeut and their joint releases ‘All Around The World’, ‘Everlasting Love’ & ‘Sunshine’. Their “Electropical” album series showcases highly acclaimed latin and world music produced in a modern way and the label’s A List supporters include Radio 1’s Pete Tong, BBC 6’s Gilles Peterson, Louie Vega, Lakuti and BBC 6 Music’s Craig Charles’ as well as Jazz FM. Their latin-infused grooves can be found on best-selling compilations including 2020’s ‘Cafe Del Mar’ edition, Defected Records, Expansions and Universal with esteemed producers John Morales, Dave Lee, Dimitri From Paris, Atjazz, Opolopo and Jose Padilla (RIP) delivering wonderful remixes.

What’s the best thing about London?
That everyone can be whoever you want to be. As long as you know your stuff well you can achieve great things in whichever field you want. I think there isn't quite another place like it in this respect.
What’s the worst thing about London?
Perhaps the weather...
Where do you go to have fun?
The Barbican & Southbank CentreSouthbank Centre are definitely two of my favourites. Also Brilliant Corners in Dalston and the BBE store in Hackney are great too. Fold I think is my favourite club at the moment.
Where is the most relaxing place in town?
I love to walk with Alexandra Palace in my view late at night and Hampstead Heath is also really peaceful and good for the soul. There’s always some new green space to discover and it changes with the seasons.
Where is your favourite place for eats and drinks in London?
I think one of my new favourite spots is Cecconi's Pizzeria in Soho. It has great food, cocktails, music and great people.
If I could change one thing about London…
Perhaps I'll ask for a few more sunny days! haha!
What’s your favourite venue to play at and what makes it so special?
I think at the moment it is Park Row Brasserie and Bar. I really like the concept and the sound.
The song that reminds me most of London is…
“Lazy” by X-press 2 featuring David Byrne. I can always picture myself walking into 93 Feet East during my first few years in London, and hearing that piano hitting on the big sound system alongside some really cool projections on the screens…it was such an amazing feeling.

One thing everyone should do in London is…
Take a long walk along the canals and discover the beautiful side of the city that’s on offer…it’s so special.
