Househead LDN founder Lee Coffey is a house music stalwart having worked at both Black Market Records and Azuli Records, and in July 2022, he launched the Househead LDN label and events group with 3 friends.

”We wanted to create a stable platform for new and old Artists and DJ/Producers to come to and elevate, to showcase their talent, with no politics…just like-minded Househeads trying to make a difference and contribute to our beloved scene.”

Their first release 'Get Here' by Prefix One featuring Soul-Omai notched up a Top 20 Traxsource Chart and since then it’s been Top 10's all the ways, coming so close to their first #1 with the Groove Assassin Remix of  “I Don’t Really Care’ by Lifford settling at #2!! Prolific and setting the bench mark for quality house from both fast rising and well-known artists over 22 releases in 14 months, Househead LDN has welcomed huge DJ and radio support for their fledgling label.

On the events side of things Househead LDN have hosted three That Perfect Beat parties with DJs such as Glenn Underground, Craig Smith and Johnny Reckless at changing locations. Their off shoot London Calling event runs the last Friday of the month at the Star Of Bethnal Green, featuring up and coming DJ talents - next event Friday November 24th. And to round things off Lee also does a weekly Friday 4-6pm radio show on House FM.

Here Lee takes us through his London guide..

What’s the best thing about London?

As someone who was born and bred in London, it has to be our diversity that I love the most. Us Londoners, especially my generation are truly multi-cultural, I live between Cornwall and London and when I'm away, it's the diversity that I miss. When I get back to London, it re-centres me and it's what gives us/London its edge.

What’s the worst thing about London?

The worst thing for me is the war on the motorist! I get the whole clean air argument but that is used unfairly as a revenue raiser to target working people.

Where do you go to have fun?

I'm blessed to have a great circle of friends and we all love to dance to House music so wherever they are is my favourite place. Recently it’s been Ron Trent at Phonox, Brixton; Kerri Chandler at Studio 338 and Glenn Underground at Neon in Picadilly.

Where is the most relaxing place in town?

Crystal Palace Park in the summer…sitting on top of the ruins.

Where is your favourite place for eats and drinks in London?

I really love small, independent bars and restaurants. There's a great family-run Italian restaurant in Gypsy Hill called Manuels that I go to often. The food there is so fresh and never disappoints.

If I could change one thing about London…

If I could change one thing about London it would be the amount of people sleeping rough. We are not a third world society and we should support these people whatever their issues.

What’s your favourite venue to play at and what makes it so special?

It has to be Aures in Waterloo…what a sound system and I love the fully immersive visuals!!

The song that reminds me most of London is…

“Waterloo Sunset” by the Kinks. Wherever I am and whatever I'm doing in the world, I'll hear that track and I'm back on Waterloo Bridge.

Tell us a London gem that everyone should know about

The Painted Hall at the Royal Naval College in Greenwich is truly stunning.

One thing everyone should do in London is…

One of my favourite places in London is the view from the statue of General Wolf, overlooking the Thames across London from Greenwich Park. It's a stunning view that I grew up with and every few years I'll just sit and look and marvel at how London grows year on year.

Househead Ldn throws its Christmas That Perfect Beat with a US Double Header Debut from America’s Doug Gomez and Mark Francis on Saturday December 9th at Aures, 18 Leake Street, Waterloo, SE1 7NN
