Leafy Forest Hill is popular with young families as there are plenty of large, attractive Victorian terraces that remain just about affordable. Much of south London suffers from not being on the tube, something which has helped to keep house prices down, but now that the overground has been extended (linking Forest Hill to Shoreditch and Highbury and Islington) the area is fairly well connected. Artists like it here too, as Havelock Road is lined with live-in workspaces that are open to the public. There are other points of interest like the Horniman Museum and the great views from the top of the hill, which allow you to see Canary Wharf and other City skyscrapers in the distance.
